Legacy
This powerful message confronts us with a fundamental truth that runs throughout Scripture: there can only be one King. Drawing from Matthew's Gospel and the entire biblical narrative, we're challenged to examine who truly sits on the throne of our hearts. The sermon traces humanity's struggle with authority from the Garden of Eden through Israel's demand for an earthly king in 1 Samuel 8, revealing a pattern that still plays out in our lives today. We see how Adam was given dominion as a king under God, yet chose to overstep his boundaries, losing his authority to Satan. Israel already had the perfect King in God Himself, yet they wanted to be like other nations. This desire to be our own king, echoed in every human heart from infancy, is the root of all sin. The message powerfully illustrates how every decision we make either enthrones Christ or dethrones Him. When we seek first the kingdom of God as Matthew 6:33 instructs, we discover a paradoxical truth: by surrendering our throne, we actually receive everything we need to build both His kingdom and our own lives abundantly. The call is clear—we cannot say 'no' and 'Lord' in the same sentence. He is either Lord of all, or not Lord at all.
